Hi,

Unlike other PC download applications  the Xbox app doesn't exercise the installation of games (although information technology looks like information technology does). All games are actually installed via the Windows Store.

To update your games  manually you  should be able do this via the Windows Store and  access updates from the top right corner of the store in  the same fashion all Windows Store apps are  updated

Every bit stated in my initial mail, I have tried updating in the microsoft store. The "get updates" button on the upper correct of the microsoft store does indeed manage to find updates for useless congenital-in apps I really wish I could delete; but it has never in one case establish an update for a game. As far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a way to check individual games for an update. This is actually weird.

For instance, I was on Expressionless past Daylight five.0.0 yesterday, but in that location was an update to v.0.1 recently. Neither the microsoft shop nor the xbox app detected this automatically. When I pressed "go updates" in the microsoft store, information technology managed to discover updates for "your phone" and "microsoft solitaire collection", but not Expressionless by Daylight (or any other game). I ended up having to uninstall the game, redownload, and reinstall it. This took multiple hours and fabricated the internet extremely slow , but did actually manage to fetch the update.

The Xbox app does have an "update all" button in the upper right; but this button is always grayed out and has never once been clickable, making it worthless, equally is the "automatic updates" switch on the same screen.

Is there some hidden push button to strength an individual game for updates? Or is there some setting that could exist interfering? It seems extremely strange that the app can't do something every bit simple as noticing that the version number for a game doesn't match the well-nigh contempo version.

I was able to solve this. My Xbox app on PC showed a new update for Doom Eternal. But clicking Update in that app didn't do annihilation.

On opening the Microsoft Store and going to updates, it listed the Doom Eternal update forth with a few others. I did a Update all and to my surprise all apps, except Doom Eternal got updated and it remained in my queue.

Then I clicked Get Updates. It found a few more apps to update and this time Doom Eternal update started downloading too. No idea what the trigger is though.

An update:

A couple days ago, Dead by Daylight five.0.ii was released, and then I decided to utilise this as an opportunity to try out a few things to meet if I could somehow get the microsoft store to find the update.

one) A friend of mine had the aforementioned problem, and the way he resolved it was to get to the game's page in the store and click "install on my devices", next to the play button. This apparently worked just fine for him and he was able to install the update. Unfortunately when I tried this, information technology but tells me that it is already installed on my device. Failure.

2) While the microsoft shop doesn't seem to accept any choice to verify an install (it Really needs this), there IS a "repair" option in the app settings for Dead by Daylight (non accessible through the microsoft store, by the way). I was hoping that attempting to repair the install might find that it was out of date. Nevertheless, clicking repair just resolves in less than 2 seconds. Failure.

3) I decided to attempt what Vinod suggested and merely keep attempting to "get updates" repeatedly after the windows store manages to update other apps. Unfortunately this did nothing. Once all apps were updated, pressing the "go updates" push button does not find any further updates, no thing how much I exercise it. Failure.

For context here is a screenshot of my microsoft shop screen:

Equally you can see, Dead past Daylight is listed as being on version 5.0.1 despite 5.0.ii being released on the 29th.

This system is entirely cleaved and desperately needs both a "check for updates" button on individual apps, and a LOT more piece of work on the underlying systems used to detect updates in the first identify. The fact that I have to completely uninstall and reinstall the game just to install small hotfixes is totally unacceptable.

I've been having troubles with Wasteland three from the xbox-gaming-pass 2 times already (the latter one just solved right now). The game from i day to the other started crashing at startup displaying a message regarding an error due to an update that has to be installed (but updating was grayed out in the xbox-app, and microsoft store did not see the game at all). What works for me is searching the game in the Microsoft Store and so non clicking the game-pass version, but rather the one from the shop itself. It then starts downloading the update (actually information technology says that information technology'southward 'installing the game' higher up the progress bar, simply the download size of ~3GB vs >20GB of the initial install through the xbox-app seems more like this missing 'update' to me). I hope this works for other games too, at least information technology's a trigger for Wasteland 3 on xbox/game-laissez passer.

Why? How tin can nosotros exist in 2021 and have a fairly new app launched with such terrible functionality. The ONLY reason ane needs a launcher is to manage games. Launching games I can practice from my desktop. Steam has existed for a long time now. Is it likewise much to enquire that the largest software visitor in history at to the lowest degree provide basic, convenient functionality in its apps? Why IS in that location even a windows shop for games? Why on earth isn't all this arranged into one app? Isn't that the purpose of having the app? I mean this is just kind of absurd. How is it possible that nobody at MS realized how abrasive it would exist to have to use the app to download and launch games but the web based store to update and manage them?

Its kind of heed blowing.

Same event here, and upgrading to Windows 11 Beta did not resolve it. At this betoken it's pretty clear that the XBox app, and Windows Stor integration with it, is totally cleaved. Is there a mode to bring this more to Microsoft's attention?
